California stands first in terms of population and third in terms of area. It shares borders with states such as Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and even an international border with Baja California of Mexico. The capital city is Sacramento but Los Angeles is the city where population is highest.

Anaheim: If there is one spot that is the most visited and the most popular in Anaheim, then it has to the Disneyland but you will need more than a day to complete the tour.  There are also beach side cliffs which are great for strolls and the Crystal Cove State Beach is a serene spot to hangout.  Go for a hiking trail at the Carbon Canyon Regional Park.


Lake Tahoe: If you have time only to visit one spot in Lake Tahoe, then head to the Emerald Bay State Park and soak in the beautiful view and the picturesque nature. It is also popular for hiking trails. Lake Tahoe is also one of the most popular destinations of skiers and there are plenty of ski resorts in the area. Another must-visit spot is the Tallac Historic site which comprises the Valhalla Estate, the Baldwin Estate and the Pope House. The Great Gatsby Festival in August at the Pope House is a popular event.

Long Beach: The Aquarium of the Pacific houses some of the most interesting marine species as well as holds many shows. The one with sea lions is very popular. The Museum of Art is where you should head to view travelling exhibits and also to get an astonishing view of the ocean. Just roam around, grab a bite at the café and enjoy the Pacific vistas. Another interesting spot at Long Beach is the El Dorado Nature Center to spot wild animals.

San Diego: If you are in San Diego, one of the first places to visit is the 1400-acre Balboa Park. With many museums, gardens and even historical buildings inside the complex, you can spend a whole day taking in the view. Then head to the historic district at downtown San Diego at Gaslamp Quarter. The Seaport Village is also a great place to go for a rewinding stroll. Other popular destinations are the Old Town State Historic Park and Point Loma and Cabrillo National Monument among others.
